Come June 2017, a brand new mega project will break ground in Dubai and will see the coming up of two new islands on both sides of the iconic Burj Al Arab by late 2020.
Dubbed, 'Marsa Al Arab', the new tourist destination will be music to any water baby's ears as it is set to add 2.2km of beach frontage to the popular Jumeirah area of the city.
The much-anticipated project launch was announced on Sunday by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Spending a total of Dh6.3 billion, the new tourist destination will be built across four million square feet with one island dedicated to entertainment and family tourism, while the other will comprise of an exclusive luxury resort.
With an aim to elevate the family tourism proposition in Dubai; the new destination will provide supporting foundations to host Expo 2020 Dubai, as well as reinforce Jumeirah Group's leading position locally and globally.
What the project will also do is boost job creation and provide a range of opportunities for UAE Nationals in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Commenting on the project, Abdulla Al Habbai, chairman, Dubai Holding (the company managing the project) said: "The launch of this new and ambitious project is in line with the directives of the visionary leadership to provide the finest and rewarding tourist experiences for visitors to Dubai."
He said Dubai has achieved a "global reputation for unique offerings and unprecedented achievements" and this was feasible through proper planning and accurate execution of such projects, complemented by in-depth knowledge of the local market's needs and capabilities.
"The project will support Emiratisation in the tourism sector by providing new job opportunities and encouraging Emiratis to commit their innovative and creative ideas to this vital sector."
To boost the experience of the guests at the new resort, Wild Wadi Waterpark, will be relocated closer to the beach. The new location will increase the park's size by more than twice its existing size. It will also add new thrills, family rides and record breaking attractions.
It will also house 140 luxury villas on a private island, which offer its residents complete privacy including a private marina and a helipad located on the left of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, the luxury villas will be operated by Jumeirah Group. It will also offer 300 sea-front residential apartments in the heart of the development.
