Bravery in the face of imminent danger and quick thinking by staff of a fuel station in Abu Dhabi prevented a major disaster from taking place after a supercar caught fire at the pump.

A CCTV footage shared on social media platforms shows the car halting at the petrol pump in the emirate, following which an attendant walks towards the rear end of the car to open the fuel tank cap.

It is at this moment that flames erupt from the car's underbody, taking everyone nearby by surprise.

But, without wasting a single moment, two fuel attendants grab fire extinguishers and put out the fire in no time.

The readiness of the staff and their prompt action was praised all over on social media.

"Hats off to the petrol pump staff. It's easy to fumble and forget in the face of danger. They are our heroes," said Fayaz on Instagram.

"Kudos to the team for quick thinking," said a surfer named Salma.

Operator Adnoc also praised the efforts of the staff.

"Our management and Civil Defence representatives recognise service station staff for their courage and incident readiness," Adnoc said in a tweet.
