UAE families got together to celebrate the UAE tradition of Hag Al Laila on Thursday.
Children across the emirates took to streets in their neighbourhood singing "Aatona Allah Yutikom, Bait Makkah Yudikum", which translates to "Give us and Allah will reward you and help you visit the House of Allah in Makkah".
The Emirati families make sure to celebrate the age-old tradition marking the arrival of Ramadan. Hag Al Laila falls on the 15th day of the Muslim month of Sha'aban.
In Sharjah, around 500 people gathered at Sharjah Maritime Museum and Al Hisn Museum at Sharjah Fort to indulge in the festivities. Dressed in the traditional attire, the kids aged between 3 and 7 years took part in interactive activities based on the traditions and culture of Hag Al Laila.
The Museum hosted storytelling sessions, demonstrations of how to prepare and serve Emirati coffee, Fashion show in traditional dress and henna for the children. As is the tradition, sweets were distributed among the kids.
Malls, schools and nurseries across the emirates took part in the festivities by giving away traditional sweets and goodies to the children. Government offices like Department of Economic Development rang in the day with the employees' children. Instagram was full with pictures of festivities at Sharjah Art Foundation, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Police and other departments.
