Dubai residents are in for a stellar show as the International Space Station will be visible in the skies on June 9 for three full minutes.

NASA announced that the International Space Station (ISS) will be visible over Dubai with the naked eye on June 9, June 10, June 11, June 13 and June 23.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has also been promoting the event on their social media channels and encouraged people to take photos and upload it online, using the #ISSOverUAE hashtag.
"Watch the ISS as it passes over the UAE. The ISS will look like a bright star passing from horizon to horizon," MBRSC said on their Instagram page.

The ISS is a spacecraft that has been orbiting the Earth for nearly two decades. It's used as a science laboratory by astronauts and cosmonauts. The first international space crew arrived on the ISS in 2000.
It is always best to spot stellar shows in areas with minimum light pollution, such as the desert. 
The ISS has been built by many different countries and was assembled in space by astronauts. Several nations use the facilities of the ISS, however, only Russia's Soyuz spacecraft can send humans to the ISS.
It orbits the Earth at an average altitude of about 250 miles and travels at 17,500 miles per hour, meaning that it orbits the Earth every 90 minutes.
Hazza Al Mansouri will become the first Arab to go to the ISS on September 25. The Emirati will be giving a live tour of the spacecraft in Arabic, and will also carry out important scientific experiments onboard during his eight-day mission.
The experiments are meant to find answers that will help improve life on Earth and advance the knowledge of our solar system, especially our own home planet.
Al Mansouri is currently in Star City, Russia, where is he is undergoing final training sessions for his upcoming trip.
