Birthday wishes poured in on Wednesday for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed was born on July 15, 1949. Less than 45 minutes after Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, posted a birthday wish for his father on his official Twitter account, the tweet garnered nearly 800 likes and hundreds of retweets and comments. The tribute post featured a side profile of Sheikh Mohammed looking off into the distance, with the prominent Burj Khalifa in the backdrop, and the words 'Happy Birthday' written stylistically in both Arabic and English.
Wishes have also come in from other members of the royal family. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, posted a charming throwback photo of her father as a youngster. She captioned her post: "Happiest Birthday to the best Dad anyone could ever wish for".
Shaikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum also posted a photo of himself, kitted out in a horse racing helmet, conversing with Sheikh Mohammed. The endurance athlete captioned the post: "Long live, and may God protect you."
Meanwhile, Latifa Rashed Al Maktoum, whose profile picture is one of her as a child with Sheikh Mohammed, posted a graphic, with the words: "Happy birthday, pride of our nation".
