Contractors and consultants in the national capital were told no violation of midday work will not be tolerated.
They were also told the Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADCM) is monitoring the compliance of the mandatory law during a workshop organised by Health, Safety and Environmental Office.
Over 300 contractors and consultants attended the workshop "Hazards and Methods of Protection against Heat Stress", which was held at ASDCM and aimed at educating workers, contractors, consultants and developers about their responsibilities.
The ADM official discussed an array of topics including rules and regulations governing work in summer where a mandatory midday break is enforced from June to September, and employers and contractors are required to facilitate the workers during the hot simmering days.
The compliance rate to the midday break was as high as 99.5 per cent last year. he HSE Office at ADM is overseeing the implementation of the standards of safety and occupational health at all construction and demolition sites.
It also seeks to address all safety and security issues impacting workers with a view to curbing accidents and injuries at construction sites through conducting a series of procedures and inspection campaigns.
