Visitor accused of insulting Dubai airport employee

An Asian woman has been referred by the Dubai Public Prosecution to the Court of Misdemeanours charged with insulting a public employee at the Dubai International Airport.
The woman, holder of a visit visa, will also face a charge of violating the privacy of the public employee while he was on duty by snapping his pictures with her mobile phone and threatening to post them on social media.
The incident took place when the woman who was then angry, walked in to the office of the employee to talk to him about a problem she had with an airline.
He tried to explain to her that they were not the right authority to handle the matter. He then summoned a person, who could be helpful, but the latter could not work it out with her. She became more infuriated and talked in an abusive manner.
She did not stop there but she wanted to take the pictures of the complainant and his colleague with her phone saying explicitly she would post them on Facebook to let others know how she felt.
The woman admitted during the public prosecution investigation that she lost her cool because of a problem with the airline. She vented her anger on an employee who did not have anything to do with the problem.
She confessed that she used a bad language with him and clicked his photo. She claimed she enjoined the freedom of expression and also claimed she was free to click anyone's photos. The public prosecution advised all visitors and residents to respect public employees and try to solve their problems calmly and in a civilised manner rather than by coercion or with inappropriate language.
It also pointed out that the laws protect all individuals against the misuse of modern technology in the breach of others' privacy or in any attempt to blackmail or threaten to defame them with the use of such ways of communication against their privacy rights.
