Abu Dhabi - The blaze started raging on the exterior of the building

A huge fire broke out at a tower in Abu Dhabi late yesterday at 10 pm and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence tackled it no time. According to the reports, the fire engulfed at a building on the Airport road in Abu Dhabi.

The fire started from Rukn Al Sultan restaurant next to Akai building. The Airport road was blocked from Delma street junction to Al Wahda mall junction, following the incident.
No causalities or injuries were reported from the fire. Sources said the blaze started raging on the exterior of the building and residents were evacuated by the Civil Defence Forces. An eyewitness said he could see burning aluminum boards falling on cars parked under the building.
Aneesha, an Indian resident staying on the fourth floor of the building said she was about to take a shower when she heard the fire alarm ringing. "There was thick smoke in the corridor and I ran for my life," she said. She further said she is not worried whether her belongings are safe.
Major General Jassim Al Marzooqi, General Commander of UAE civil Defence spoke to Khaleej Times and ensured everything is under control:
People were worried as they say they waited to receive any instructions on whether they could their homes or not.
