The Dubai Civil Defence put out a fire that broke out in a dhow near Deira Port. No injuries were reported. Mahmood Hamad, spokeperson of the Dubai Civil Defence, said that the Operations Room of the civil defence department received information that a fire broke out in the wooden dhow in the creek while it was near the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Fire brigades from Hamriya, Ras Al Khor and Port Saeed rushed to the scene and towed the dhow ashore, where they doused the blaze. Some goods were damanged, but nobody was injured. Cooling operations began soon after to prevent the fire from reigniting.
He said the officials concerned are investigating the incident.
