Diego Maradona celebrated his 56th birthday in grand style at the Nation Towers on Abu Dhabi Corniche Road on Sunday.
Maradona officially opened Cafe Diego - a restaurant dedicated to the Argentine football legend in Nation Towers level 2.
"I feel at home in Abu Dhabi," Maradona said while thanking his legions of fans in the Capital.
People were out there in numbers to make Maradona's special day a grand one. They trickled for space to catch a glimpse of the legend. Fans greeted the legend with a birthday song.
Moved by the ovation, he waved to all and later signed autographs for children.
Maradona has been based in Dubai for some time now.
He remains an ambassador for the Dubai Sports Council, Alejandro Garcia from the Diego Maradona Group said.
Dutch football great Clarence Seedorf was also present at the event.
