Heavy showers have lashed different parts of Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday, particularly the Wadi Cove and mountainous areas.

The heavy rains have filled the deep valley and nearby areas, according to Emiratis and residents in Ras Al Khaimah.

Ali Al Mazrouie, an Emirati, said that Wadi Cove had experienced extremely heavy rain. "We are all happy and enjoying the wonderful weather."
Saeed Salem, a resident, said that heavy rain has turned the roads into ponds of water.

RAK department of public works and services, have prepared themselves for the heavy rain, and have deployed a number of employees, tankers and pumps to deal with the rain water that has accumulated at the low level areas and major roads.

"Up to 70 staffers have been deployed to handle the emergency situation, apart from 45 tankers, and 18 pumps to suck out the rain water," stated Eng Ahmed Al Hammadi, director general of the department.

Most of the department machinery; which includes eight tankers and six pumps, have been sent to the southern areas, which have been most affected by the showers, he added. "Two shawls were sent to the southern areas to clean the roads and remove the wastes."

The department is also keeping an eye on the small bridges to ensure the smooth flow of rain water under the roads in Ras Al Khaimah, Eng Hammadi said.
Traffic patrols have meanwhile been deployed on all internal roads and highways to help the people, ensure the movement of traffic, and tow any flooded or non-functioning vehicles due to the showers and flooded valleys.

"All motorists need to be alert, focused and careful, and reduce speed on the roads during the rain," police sources warned.
