A yellow alert has been issued for rain, wind and dust in some areas by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The alert is active from 1.30pm to 8pm today.
The alert cautions residents of convective cloud formation with rain, and fresh winds with 40kmph speed, leading to blowing dust and causing horizontal visibility to drop to less than 3000m over some eastern areas.
Abu Dhabi Police has asked motorists to exercise caution and adhere to changing speed limits displayed on boards.
The weather department earlier predicted generally clear weather on Sunday, with occasional partly cloudy skies, and a chance of rain in the afternoon.
Humidity will increase by night and into Monday morning, with the possibility of fog or light fog developing in some coastal and internal areas.
Winds will be light to moderate, occasionally becoming active and raising dust during the day. They will shift from southeasterly to northwesterly and northeasterly, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, reaching up to 40 km/h.
