Following a red alert for heavy fog on Thursday morning, residents in some parts of the UAE are woke up to heavy rains and hails. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has reported heavy to moderate rainfall in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.

Early this morning, dense fog enveloped large areas of Abu Dhabi, significantly reducing visibility. As a result, the speed reduction system was activated, with speed limits lowered to 80 km/h in several parts of the emirate.

Motorists are urged to follow road signage and digital boards for updated information, while Abu Dhabi Police has been actively alerting drivers via social media to ensure safe travel conditions.

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) shared a video showing hailstones pelting down amid heavy rain in Ras Al Khaimah as motorists make their way to Jebel Jais Mountain.

In general, expect a mix of partly cloudy and cloudy skies across the region today, with intermittent rainfall affecting coastal, northern, and eastern areas. The weather will gradually cool as temperatures decrease throughout the day.

By nightfall and into Friday morning, the humidity levels are set to rise, with a chance of fog or mist formation over some internal areas. This could reduce visibility, particularly in more inland locations.

Light to moderate winds will prevail throughout the day, strengthening at times, especially in coastal regions. These winds are expected to contribute to rougher sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf, while the Oman Sea will remain slight to moderate.

Residents are advised to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to fog and mist formation, and to monitor marine conditions if planning any sea activities.

Temperatures are expected to reach the highs of 25℃ in the country; mercury will hover around 23℃ and 24℃ in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, respectively.
