A woman, who made her living by working as a prostitute has been sentenced to three months behind bars.
The Court of First Instance ordered the deportation of the 45-year-old Indian woman at the end of her jail term.
She was nabbed by Al Muraqqabat police in February.
The public prosecution had referred her to the court on prostitution charges with a recommendation that she receives the most severe legal penalty possible.
The woman admitted during the investigation she had been working as a prostitute for more than three months prior to her arrest on February 6.
"A man and a woman of my nationality would bring customers to me at a room in a house in Hor Al Anz. I used to be paid Dh 1,500 a month by that woman," the accused confessed during interrogation.
The woman, who was placed in detention, can appeal the ruling within 15 days starting from the date the court ruling was issued.
