The company allegedly had failed to pay the workers’ dues since May.

Sixty of the workers’ representatives went to the MoL’s Disputes Department in Mussafah Area last week to file the complaint against the Abu Dhabi-based contracting company demanding their delayed wages in addition to the end-of-service benefits.

Among the workers, was a foreman who joined the company 20 years ago and was curious about his total dues including four months’ salary.

The MoL transferred the complaint to the court and endorsed temporary work permits for six months.

One of the workers said, “I have not been able to find a new job since the closure of the company and I have a family — wife and three kids — whom I must send money to every month”.

Officials of the ministry did not comment on the complaint as the company owner or the PRO failed to turn up at the ministry.
