Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs of India, who is arriving on a two-day visit, will attend the inauguration of Zayed-Gandhi Digital Museum at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Tuesday.
The opening of the digital museum comes as part of celebrations of the birth centenary of UAE's Father of Nation the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation of India
A high-level delegation is accompanying the Indian foreign minister, who will co-chair the 12th session of the India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting for Economic and Technical Cooperation along with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The Indian minister and her UAE counterpart will open the museum - a UAE-India joint exhibition celebrating the two visionaries - along with Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, on Tuesday. Later in the evening, she will have a public interaction with members of the community at India Social and Cultural Centre Abu Dhabi.
Ahead of her Monday visit, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement, which said: "India and the UAE enjoy strong bonds of friendship, which are founded on millennia-old cultural, religious and economic interaction between the two regions. In the recent past, with the exchange of visits at the highest-level, the relationship has been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership."
Swaraj's visit is expected to boost further the economic, trade and cultural ties between the two countries. Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri said the visit will strengthen bilateral relations in various sectors.
"Her visit is an important opportunity to continue our dialogue at the highest levels of government, to share views on major regional and global issues and to give a further boost to our comprehensive strategic partnership.
"Her visit comes after the landmark visit of the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah to India in June, two visits by Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit in February, as well as numerous other engagements at the ministerial and senior official levels," Suri added.
