Unpredictability and Pakistan cricket have always been strange bed fellows for a while now.
They would conjure a truly flawless performance one moment and then suddenly out of nowhere, can be mediocre the next.
But the new bunch of Pakistan cricketers, want to banish that notion for good.
And all-rounder Imad Wasim revealed that the players had a frank talk regarding that and hoped to undo that tag.
"What we have decided as a group is that we will be consistent," Wasim said prior to Pakistan's training session at the ICC Cricket Academy on Tuesday evening.
"We have been stuck with that label and people say that we are inconsistent, which is true. But I think now that things have to change for the betterment of Pakistan cricket," he added.
Wasim is part of the Pakistan T20 squad that will take on World Twenty20 champions the West Indies over three matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Pakistan come into the series on the back of winning the one-off T20 International against World Twenty20 finalists England at Old Trafford in Manchester, earlier this month.
Wasim took two for 17 with his left-arm spin as Pakistan won the fixture comprehensively by nine wickets.
And Wasim said that they will show the same level of intensity against the West Indies.
"We are trying to show the same skill level and intensity as we did in Manchester and I think we are changing the trend now," he said.
Personally, Wasim said that he is eager to perform on the big stage and win matches for Pakistan.
"I have my aims and goals. I want to be a person who can be a match winner. I worked really hard when I was young and playing domestic cricket, so I just want to perform for my team. I am a very ambitious cricketer and an ambitious human being. I just love playing for Pakistan," said the 27-year-old, who was born in Swansea, UK.
The southpaw became the first Welsh-born cricketer to represent Pakistan.
The West Indies T20 squad is not the same as the one which featured in the World Twenty20 in India with some new players coming in. And Wasim has first-hand knowledge of a couple of them, having played in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with the Jamaica Tallawahs.
"They are the world champions and they are the best team in the world right now. And they have got some good players and very good cricketers. I played in the CPL and I saw the talent and they have got a really talented bunch of lads. So, we are taking them very, very seriously and it is going to be a very good series," he felt.
Wasim was also full of praise for Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur and added that it was up to the players to go out there and give their best on the field.
"I worked with him in the PSL (Pakistan Super League) with Karachi Kings and he is a brilliant coach and he is one of the best coaches in the world. He has given us a lot of confidence which Waqar bhai also did. What I personally think is that it is up to the players because they are the ones inside the ground and they are going to implement what the coach has said, what plans should have been executed. Obviously, the players should take responsibility. The coach is a nice guy and he supports us on good days or bad days," said Wasim.
