Dubai sees 32 accidents every hour during heavy rain

A whopping 762 accidents were recorded in Dubai in a span of 24 hours (or, 31.75 accidents every hour) during the heavy rain that lashed the emirate this weekend.

The police received 8,286 calls during the 24 hours from Friday night till Saturday night, of which 31 incidents were moderate.

Colonel Mohammed Juma said that all drivers and road users should exercise caution and pay extra attention on the road during inclement weather.

He warned that sudden changes in wind direction and rain may lead to loss of control of the vehicle, and advised drivers to drive slowly with caution.

Special care should be taken by bus drivers, he added, considering the large size of the vehicle makes it more vulnerable to sudden changes in wind speed and direction.
