If winter comes, can rain be far behind?

Abu Dhabi / Dubai - The unexpected rain brightened up many faces with people taking to the streets to enjoy the breezy weather.

Dismissing doubts about short spell of winter chilliness this season, all the emirates in the country received light to moderate showers on Saturday.
The unexpected rain brightened up many faces with people taking to the streets to enjoy the breezy weather since morning.
Though rainfall was reported Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Qaiwain and Ras Al Khaimah, it was the first rainfall of the season in the national capital.
A cloudy weather was reported across the UAE and in the Arabian Sea by the National Meteorological and Seismology Centre (NMSC).
The sudden downpour in Abu Dhabi at around 2.10pm made children, who were having a fun day playing in a nice weather in the parks along Corniche, run for shelter.
Some said they were preparing for lunch when it rained.
An Indian delivery boy, who had taken shelter in a grocery story on Airport Road, was as jubilant as the rest of others. With the rainfall that lasted for almost 25-mintues, the weather became more pleasant, breezy and a bit chilly.
Dr Ahmed Habib at the National Meteorological and Seismology Centre (NMSC) in Abu Dhabi said the mercury is set to fall by 3-4°Celcius.
At 4.27pm, mercury dropped to 19.8°C in the capital. At Abu Dhabi International Airport, the rainfall was measured 1.6 millimeters.
Dr Talat Butt, a physician at Talat Medical Centre, said the unexpected downpour will help lessen the viruses that spread in dry weather.
"Every one in three patients, these days was complaining of fever, cough and running noise and chest congestion, "Dr Butt said.
