How do you typically start your workday?
I like to kickstart my day with meditation and yoga. This gives me the mental and physical energy to make the most of the day ahead.

What is your favourite thing about your job?
Meeting new people and seeing them smile - after a great meal at our restaurant. Good, soulful food is one of the best ways for people to connect with each other - and that's what I find most gratifying about my business.

In your workday, what is the one thing you cannot do without?
My team. It's with their efficient support that my dreams continue to take shape.

What advice would you give your younger self, if you could?
The first question I'd ask myself is: why did you not travel more when you were single? I would've advised myself to see more of the world while I had the opportunity. I'd also ask myself why I didn't spend more time with the kids, since they grew up so quickly!

Who's your role model as the perfect professional, and why?
Chef Ferran Adrià of elBulli fame. It was purely by passion and professionalism that he made elBulli the world's best restaurant [it ranked No.1 five times in The World's 50 Best Restaurants] - I believe that's pretty darn great.

What important skills do you think every professional should possess in order to achieve success?
Innovating constantly and being a people's person are the qualities of a true professional.

Your favourite indulgence when you need a break from work.
A long walk is the best therapy to unwind. It rejuvenates me completely.

Any insights or tips you can share on how to make the most of the workday?
Sometimes, we forget the simplest mantras of life - and that is to be happy, to laugh and to bring a smile to others' faces.

How do you maintain a work-life balance?
For me, meditation and chanting keeps me connected to myself and keeps stress at bay. It also helps me lead a balanced life.

Any advice for youngsters who are just getting into the professional arena?
If you failed to attract someone you fancied, would you stop trying ever again? If not, why do that with your career? I always advise the younger generation not to get dissuaded by failure, as it is the stepping stone to success. Keep experimenting, because opportunities for innovation in the food business are unlimited.
