How do you typically start your day?
Being a strong believer in innate wellness, I get up and let out a laugh! I follow this with meditation. This energy keeps me charged throughout the day.
Describe your work in a sentence?
I work towards creating well-being on a personal, community and international level.
What is your #1 personal principle/success mantra at work?
It would be to start a wellbeing revolution for a happier and better world. Happiness is an attitude. Cultivate it.
In your workday, what is the one thing you cannot do without?
I really do not give any importance to material things. It is a wrong notion that we cannot conduct business without depending on material things. The most important thing is to have control over oneself and that comes only by knowing and understanding what we are capable of.
Your favourite indulgence when you need a break from work?
To be honest, I do not consider what I'm doing "work" and so I never require a break from it! Earlier, I used to worry and get confused about small things such as market fluctuations. Today, I believe that it is the present moment that we all have to savour and so I approach it will all positivity that I can muster.
What is your favourite place to go for a business lunch or dinner?
I love my wife's cooking and believe there is no place that can provide a meal as delicious as the one she makes. Having said that, I have no favourite restaurant - I usually select the place taking into consideration a number of factors.
A person (or persons) who influenced you?
My parents were deeply influenced by Sufism and I think I have got that from them. Sufism is the pioneer of the well-being revolution. If we look deeply, we will find that Sufi saints have always worked towards a world where everything is equal. In my study of science, especially positive psychology, I see strong resonance of Sufism.
What is the last thing you usually do before you go to sleep?
I spend a few minutes meditating and being grateful for the wonderful day that I had.
