Jewellery Is Not Just an Accessory

My work is creative, challenging and there's constant multi-tasking between the wholesale trade of loose diamonds and the retail business of gold jadau jewellery, involving client servicing on all levels as well as the procurement, design, execution and finishing of our customised jewellery pieces.

How do you typically start your day?

My day starts with updating myself on world news and current affairs, gold rates, and diamond prices. In the morning, I also make a lot of phone calls, and send out emails.

Describe your work in a sentence.

My work is creative, challenging and there's constant multi-tasking between the wholesale trade of loose diamonds and the retail business of gold jadau jewellery, involving client servicing on all levels as well as the procurement, design, execution and finishing of our customised jewellery pieces.

What is your #1 personal success mantra at work?

Trust, honesty, and the highest commitment in terms of quality, design and prompt delivery of our jewels made us a well-reputed family jeweller of seven generations. A jeweller cannot work without transparency in today's times. All our wares meet the demands of quality requirements, and we offer a variety of reports and the right documentation as well. We stand apart because we offer quality in our bespoke polka and jadau creations and also competitive prices in our whole-sale diamond trade.
I focus on how business will be doing from the next year onwards, laying the foundation for our family business to grow and set the right tone for us as a brand. Success is about the right product, price point and marketing strategy.

In your workday, what is the one thing you cannot do without?

Coffee! Aside from that, I always require the Rapaport price list, the eye glass, and the tweezers to be able to provide the perfect solitaire diamonds required by clients, as well as assisting them with their purchases, enabling them to make their investment worth its value and bringing appreciation in the long-run.

Your favourite indulgence when you need a break from work?

I enjoy playing tennis and love camping. I mostly spend weekends with my boys, doing activities of their choice. Whether it's spending our day at the beach or even simple things like playing football, cycling or catching a movie, time with family comes first.

What is your favourite place to go to for a business lunch?

La Petite Mason, DIFC, Dubai is my wife's favourite place, and my business lunches are always with her, where we talk about upcoming shows, events or campaigns, and strategise on the same. She runs the business along with me, and I've noticed that our best ideas and dis-cussions happen over lunch rather than at work.

What is your greatest dream, professionally?

To have each extraordinary woman own a piece of bespoke polki/jadau from Gehna Jewellery Boutique. We have given this region a recent taste of fine jadau jewellery, which we manufacture in Jaipur, India. We are renowned for our heirloom pieces that you can proudly pass down generations. We believe that jewellery is not just an accessory, hence we create pieces for connoisseurs and art collectors as well.
Our vision has always been to take the royal art of jadau jewellery and our heritage to the global platform.

What is the last thing you do before you go to sleep?

Playing a game of Sudoku, or watching sports channels.
