How do you typically start your workday?
Physical well-being plays a very important part in my life. In order to have a good workday, I need to have a good start. So I begin my day with a brisk morning walk at 4.30am, which enables me to get to my workplace an hour before time and get a head start on my activities for the day.
Describe your work in a sentence.
My work is very challenging; nevertheless, I enjoy what I do as it gives me immense satisfaction and a sense of achievement and fulfilment in the end.
What is your #1 personal principle or success mantra at work?
Never, ever give up.
In your workday, what is the one thing you cannot do without?
I ensure that I have a chat with my director, Amar Chawla, every single day, no matter which part of the globe either one of us are in.
Your most challenging project to date?
Every project that I undertake is challenging in the beginning because of everything it entails but, by the end of it, all the effort involved feels like a thing of the past. The current project I am working on is the Meydan project consisting of three phases and involving the construction of 1,800 villas. I believe this is my biggest - and most challenging - project to date.
Who is your role model as the perfect professional?
The person I have always looked up to as my mentor is my brother-in-law, Shewakram Budhrani, who currently resides in Singapore. His attitude towards life, dedication towards his work and family, and the discipline he follows with regards to his physical, emotional and mental wellbeing are all valuable lessons that I try to inculcate in myself and follow on a day-to-day basis.
Your favourite indulgence when you need a break ?from work?
Whenever I need a break, I call my family. Be it my wife, daughter, grandchildren or other member of my extended family, talking to them brings a smile to my face and warms my heart. I'm blessed to have all of them residing in Dubai.
What is your greatest dream, professionally?
By the grace of God, all of my dreams have been fulfilled. I feel blessed that I am able to live my dreams, which have become my reality.
