Spa Review: The Spa, Address Downtown

Friday mornings are reserved for many things, and a spa treatment does not really figure in it. unless, of course, you have either been partying too hard or working till the wee hours. In my case, it was neither. I just wanted to experience relaxation before getting on with what promised to be a day of meetings and ruminations. By 9.45 am, I was in the premises of The Spa at The Address Downtown. Almost as soon as I entered, I was handed over a chart to list out any 'issues' I might be facing. Thankfully, I had none and that's when my therapist made her way to the reception.
Taking me to the changing area, my therapist helpfully showed me the premises (perhaps it helped that it was morning and no one else was around). Amid all things that seemed luxurious, what enticed me was the lovely balcony that houses the relaxation area. Thanks to the gentle breeze and the view of the water bodies, my senses were suitably soothed right before the treatment even began. The relaxation area also adjoins the therapy room, so you can enjoy these views right after undergoing your treatment.
The one I had chosen was the Blissful Marma Massage, that promotes relaxation by working on the marma points (energy points) in the body. Here's how it unfolded!
Therapy time
The treatment started with a gentle footbath, following which I was asked to choose an oil. Since lavender is my go-to, I opted for its oil. My residual stress (I am not sure what's led to its build-up) gave way to some pain when my therapist kneaded through the marma points. Every time, I felt the pain, I recoiled. Alternating between light and medium pressure, she managed to ease the pain and instructed me to undergo a similar treatment more regularly if I was to keep my back intact. She also noted that my skin was unnaturally dry and slathered some more oil to lend suppleness to it. By the end of 60 minutes, I not only felt relaxed but more energetic.
What we loved...
The relaxation corner is an absolute delight. My therapist gave me a hot bag to ease my shoulders, and I lay comatose on the chair for next couple of minutes, soaking in the views. The treatment rooms are big and ooze luxury, which makes the pampering worth your while.
What we didn't...
Perhaps it would help if the treatment were to cover a brief facial massage. Also, looks like getting lost in big spas has become my thing. After I was done changing to my regular wear, I couldn't find anyone to guide me outside. The service, however, is impeccable.
