Feeling ‘kolonised’

Kabab Kolony is a bright young eatery close to where I live; I’ve always thought it dishes out variations of kababs (like so many others). Even though I’m not a kabab freak, on occasion I’ve had a kathi roll at Kabab Kolony and found it pretty yummy.

Weight-watchers (how I love the term!): they even have chappati versions of the kathi roll — as opposed to a paratha one. But last week, I gave the menu a leisurely once over and realised it’s more about Bombay meaty street food. I took in a shammi bun (mutton shammi kabab in pao) that came with a regulation omlette and lashings of pudina chutney. Awesome. Need to be back there. Soon.

Print charming

Yearning for some Italian swagger? Just sling it with this Braccialini gem that’s not just haute but pretty as hell.

As always, I am eyeing the floral prints, and the trendy interspersing of metal on flora.

The manor of manners

I am suffering from a severe The Good Wife hangover; I’ve lapped up all episodes (twice over) till Season 4, and am waiting for the Season 5 DVD (damn, it’s taking so long!).

Even though I am convinced that nothing can be as good as TGW, I needed a distraction to help me get by. So, on a recent outing to Mercato, I popped by at the Virgin store and picked up Season 1 of Downton Abbey; have heard a lot of good to great things about it. And even though I miss Alicia and Will and Kalinda and Peter and Cary (from TGW) horribly, Downton Abbey has me hooked in right earnest. It’s lush and wickedly dramatic like only an early 20^th century period piece set in high-society county-style England can be. The class system, the intrigue-filled manor of manners, the wonderful interplay of characters (and Maggie Smith — is she the best ever or not?) — I’m comfortably ensconced in DVD paradise again.

Chic cubism

I wouldn’t call myself a cubist but this cube-y table from Natuzzi managed to get the Martha Stewart out in me.

It’s set off notions of home décor in my idle mind — whereas all this while I’d been perfectly content having a functional mix’n’match array of homey stuff from cheap-ish neighbourhood stores. I am fascinated by the symmetry, the optimal utilisation of space and the splash of funky colours. Now, if only someone could tell me where in my humble abode I can place it?

GRABBING EYEBALLS RACHEL STEVENS

Claim to fame: The Sexiest Woman of All Time, circa 2014

Singer, actress, model — call her what you may or will, but these 
days, Rachel Stevens has a brand-new identity: she’s been voted the ‘Sexiest Woman of All Time’ by FHM magazine readers.

“To win feels absolutely amazing,” is what Rachel had to say about her newest clinch. “It’s so flattering that people think of me that way. It’s brilliant.” One of FHM’s editor’s has said, “Readers clearly still love her [okay, the emphasis is mine]”, which is also a nod to a 36-year-old putting the younger ones in place. The runner up — the second-most sexiest woman that is — is 44-year-old JLo.
