One to watch

It was watch-making innovation on its finest display last week at the specially-customised Swatch store, Mall of the Emirates, with the launch of the Swiss brand’s newest offering — the SISTEM51 — for the first time ever in the Middle East.

The first mechanical movement to be made on a fully-automated assembly line, the watch is made up of only 51 parts, held in place by a single screw, is available in four colours, and features an exceptional 90-hour power reserve. The front tells the time, the back tells the story — the tagline couldn’t have summed it up better. For while the dial reveals six of the movement’s 19 rubies, one can gaze through the transparent back into the heart of this fascinating timepiece. For more information, visit www.swatch.com.

Chef’s top choice

Looking for a new gift for mum this Ramadan? Try Chef Topf’s diecast aluminium cooking utensils with eco-friendly non-stick ceramic coating. Aluminum die-casting has several advantages including excellent thermal efficiency, the pressure cooker effect (the high heat conductivity of aluminum die-casting emits far-infrared radiation to perform just like a pressure cooker) and a self-basting lid. Available at Hadi Enterprises, 04-3369530.
