Step Up
Got a pair of new or gently-worn shoes to spare? Take them over to Clarks' Dubai Mall Kids store to do your own bit to fight global poverty. The shoe brand is inviting one and all to participate in their social initiative in partnership with Soles4Souls, which helps to create jobs in developing nations such as Haiti and Honduras. Running till September 15, the drive is aimed at giving a second life to unwanted shoes and protecting the environment by keeping them out of landfills. Visit www.soles4souls.org for more info.
Women on top
In recognition of Emirati Women's Day on August 28, Jumeirah Emirates Towers' Flow Talks Series has put together an impressive line-up of inspiring speakers for their free-to-attend session on the day. From 12pm to 2pm, visitors can hear from four prominent Emirati women on the theme 'Women, Icons of Tolerance'. The session will be chaired by Amna Al Haddad, the UAE's champion weightlifter and motivational speaker. For more info, call 04-3198767.
