Presenter, image consultant and communication coach Avneet Kohli talks about learning from Oprah, pining for New York, and the need to prioritise

What would you say is your best childhood memory?
This question takes me back to a time when heavy rain gifted us an early release from school and, dressed in school uniforms, a bunch of us young girls made a trip to the park. Jumping over garden showers and playing hide-and-seek with my closest friends felt like the first taste of freedom then.

If you could move anywhere in the world for free, what place would that be?
There is no other city on the planet that offers diversity, endless inspiration, opportunity and, above all, an energy that can compete with New York.

What is your biggest life lesson?
Never take success to your head and failure to your heart.

Which skills would you love to learn, and why?
I'm already working on enhancing my graphic and video design skills, which, in my opinion, are essential to market a product in the current day and age.
What advice would you give your younger self, if you could?
Balance, health and time management are game-changers. So, prioritise wisely.

If you could go back to any era in time or witness any major event in history, which one would it be, and why?
I'm fortunate to have experienced history in the making already with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking charge of India's growth story and making its mark on a global platform, thanks to the multiple initiatives undertaken by him.

Your greatest fear?
Well, now that I think about it, settling in life for anything less than my potential.

If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day, who would it be and why?
I'd trade a day with Oprah Winfrey. I'd love to be in her shoes as an observer and learner to understand how her journey led her to set up a media network that casts positive impact worldwide, in turn making her the most influential female entrepreneur in the world.

Who's your favourite movie character of all time - and why?
Geet in Jab We Met. In some world, we lived similar lives.

If you were president of your country, what is the first thing you'd do?
I would get the best minds to redesign the education system so that the curriculum would give equal importance to life and vocational skills.
