At least 29 militants were killed in an anti-terror operation in Egypt's Sinai peninsula, the media reported on Tuesday.
The military operation on Monday targeted the terrorist hideouts in the cities of Rafah, Sheikh Zuweid and Arish, Xinhua quoted the armed forces as saying in a statement.
Terrorist hideouts, vehicles and equipments were destroyed, the statement said.
An army officer and a soldier were killed and four others were injured when a roadside bomb went off during the operation, it added.
Egypt has witnessed anti-government attacks that have left hundreds of police and army personnel dead or injured after the military ousted president Mohammed Morsi in July 2013.
Most of the attacks were claimed by the "Sinai State", a militant group based in Sinai and affiliated with Daesh.
