QUEEN CHARLOTTE CITY — A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck British Columbia’s north coast Friday. No damage or injuries have been reported.
The quake struck at roughly 7 a.m. Friday about 130 miles (167 kilometers) southeast of the village of Queen Charlotte.
The National Tsunami Warning Center said a tsunami is not expected to result.
The US Geological Survey located the quake at about 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) underground. It was felt in the archipelago of Haida Gwaii and along the north coast.
Three earthquakes up to magnitude 4.2 and nearly a half-dozen aftershocks also jolted northern Idaho on Friday, with residents from Washington state to Montana saying they felt the tremors. No injuries or damage were reported.
