Knowing the immigration policies

While some countries have a simple immigration policy, few might have too many requirements. Research about the immigration policies and know the advantages of moving to the country of your choice.

Taxation

Countries with tax-free income are obviously on top of every expat's list. In the absence of income tax, find out the other means of taxation in the country. You need to calculate the salary you might make in the new country and the percent of tax you are liable to pay to know for sure if you want to migrate. Also take into account the taxes on household good, import duties to know if it makes sense to move your vehicle, furniture to the new country. 

Match your lifestyle

What you eat, drink and the activities you involve yourself in determines your happiness quotient. This is one of the most important areas to look into before making your you next move. Know about the socialising avenues before making your decision.

Housing choices

Rent is the biggest expense for many expats, who do not own a house in a foreign country. Consider the housing market before choosing a country of your choice. Figure out the budget you are willing to spend on rentals, the distance you are willing to commute and so on.

Education

Is the education in the country you are considering to migrate affordable? What is the official language and will your child be able to culturally fit in? These are some of the prime questions you need to address.

Public transport 

How do you plan to commute in the new country. If you plan to drive, you need to factor for the cost of petrol, driving license and budget for a vehicle. If it is the public transport that you rely on, you might want to shortlist a location closer to the city or the means of transport to save on commute. 

Healthcare

Healthcare facilities should be on top of your mind, especially if you are migrating with your family. Find out how accessible are the health care amenities in the country, the cost of treatment and the insurance available.
