Former speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and PTI leader Aleem Khan have filed nomination papers for by-election to National Assembly Lahore constituency NA-122.
An election tribunal had earlier annulled election on this seat in which Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had defeated PTI chairman Imran Khan in the 2013 general election.
Talking to reporters, Ayaz said the tribunal had penalised him for irregularities committed by the Election Commission staff but had not charged him for rigging. He vowed to win the seat with a bigger margin than in 2013.- news@khaleejtimes.com
In Lodhran PTI senior leader Jehangir Tareen filed papers for by-election in NA-154. Tareen had won petition against PML-N's Siddiq Kanju who was disqualified for ten years. His son has been awarded the PML-N ticket.
In an apparent setback for the ruling party, Rana Aslam and Hassan Mehmood, two candidates of the PML-N for Punjab Assembly seats in NA-154 constituency of Lodhran, announced their decision to join the PTI. They pledged to support Jehangir Tareen. The election to both NA-122 and NA-154 will be held on October 11.
