Manama: Bahrain has announced its new government with seventeen ministers after the parliamentary and municipal elections that were held last month.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued the decree on Saturday, in which 12 ministers retained their portfolios, and four new faces joined. The four new faces joined as Minister for Defence Affairs, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Minister of Information Affairs and Minister of Social Development. Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh, the only female in the cabinet, was given the charge of Ministry of Social Development.

The former minister of state of foreign affairs Ghanim bin Fadhel Al Buainain was appointed Minister for Shura Council and House of Representatives Affairs. The posts of Minister of Culture and State Minister of Human Rights was removed.

The former minister of industry and commerce, Dr Hassan Fakhro was appointed as the King’s adviser for Economic affairs, along with three other advisors for media, sports and youth and legislative affairs.
