CEO of the Bahrain’s National Authority on Organising Health Professions, Dr Baha El Din Fatiha, has said that the GCC-member countries are proceeding to unify the prices of imported medicines, adding the process will be finalised by the end of current year Dr Fatiha said that the 61st meeting of the GCC Committee on drug registration was convened recently in Bahrain and reviewed registration of pharmaceutical factories and firms. He said the that the registration process is preceded with a visit by a delegation from at least two countries to the relevant factory for assessment of the substance and determining the shelf-life of pharmaceutical products. Dr Fatiha praised products’ high quality and reliability and accentuated that prices are suitable and are not exaggerated.
The Directorate of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at the Central Informatics and Communication Organisation (CIO) was granted the “Maturity in GIS Achievement Award” during GISWORX 2013, held in Dubai recently.
The Director of GIS, Dr Khalid Abdulrahman Al Haidan, who received the award from the CEO of GISTEC, highlighted the importance of the prize which he said has proved Kingdom’s advanced position in the field of GIS.
He said that many countries are interested in taking advantage of the kingdom’s successful experience. He said that such a landmark achievement is the result of the unlimited support of the wise leadership of the country.
Tamkeen has signed an agreement with Work Smart, organisers of the upcoming “Innovation in Technology Conference” and “e-Shabab Competition 2013” as a strategic partner of the two events, which will be held in early July.
As per the agreement, Bahrainis can benefit from Tamkeen’s “Conference Attendance Support Scheme”. The scheme, launched in 2012, enables Bahrainis to attend conferences, seminars, forums, or similar short-term events by subsidising 80 per ccent of the registration and attendance fees. Heritage festival opens
The 21st Annual Heritage Festival was inaugurated last week at Bab Al Bahrain and will run until May 1. The theme focuses on reviving the rich history of traditional cafes in the country.
The beauty of this year’s festival is characterised by the’ physical presence of cafes bringing back the memory of old environment. The traditional cafes were once scattered all over the country.
