Manama: Bahrain has announced that the military agreement signed recently by Bahrain and the UK is part of decades-long outstanding relations between both countries.

The newly-appointed Information Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi said this week that the agreement provides military facilities at the Mina Salman Bahrain Defence Force base as part of joint action and distinguished cooperation Bahrain is building with major friendly countries.

The agreement is also related to regional and energy security as the Arabian Gulf is considered the artery of the oil and gas exported by countries in the region, the minister said, adding that a joint statement was issued by Bahrain and the UK upon the signing the agreement.

Concerning Bahraini media attaches in some embassies abroad, the minister stressed the importance of their role in unraveling the real situation and debunking fallacies being spread by some to distort the kingdom’s image.
