The lawsuits were filed by the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments against the Justice and Development Movement (JDM) and the National Democratic Action Society (Wa’ad), according to a statement carried by the Bahrain News Agency on Thursday.
The ministry asked for the suspension of activities of the JDM over its failure to hold its annual general assembly for 2012 and electoral assembly of 2013, although the ministry had addressed it directly on the violations and requested their rectifications.
Wa’ad is facing the lawsuit as it had not elected a general secretary as its current general secretary is serving a jail term.
The Ministry’s Political Societies Affairs Office stressed that in line with its responsibilities, it affirms its assiduity in monitoring the proper application of the law through constant follow up of conferences held by political societies in order to ensure that they are properly held in accordance with applicable laws and the respective statutes of each of the societies.
The latest legal action against the two political societies has come after the justice ministry filed a similar case earlier this week against the top opposition Al Wefaq National Islamic Society for violating the political society law.
