Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has arrived in Islamabad on a few days visit to hold meetings with the party's Punjab leaders and workers for kicking off a campaign for local bodies elections in Punjab.
During his stay in the capital, the PPP chairman will meet party leaders and review party issues and political situation.
According to senior PPP leaders, Bilawal is likely to meet office-bearers of 10 Punjab districts during his first formal political visit to the province that is aimed at preparations for local bodies polls. The PPP is currently in shambles in Punjab and is seen nowhere in the province before the upcoming local bodies elections.
"It is to be seen how Bilawal will deal with the top workers of the PPP who are demoralised and keep themselves way from the party and leaders of the Punjab PPP," a senior PPP leader remarked. However, another senior member of the PPP said Bilawal has decided to take command of the local bodies elections to inject new spirit in the ranks, as the party has been on a decline since the general elections.
On arrival in Islamabad, Bilawal directed the party legislators to raise the issues of the farming community of Punjab over which they have been agitating for quite some time.
