In a dramatic pre-dawn exercise on Tuesday, the Andhra Pradesh Police forcefully shifted to a hospital Leader of the Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been on an indefinite fast for the past week demanding special status to the residuary State.
The police reached the venue in Guntur where the YSRCP leader was on fast and requested him to end his 7-day long hunger strike, but when Jagan refused to give in, the cops forcefully lifted him on to stretcher and rushed him to the Government General Hospital at around 4 am in an ambulance.
The police resorted to mild cane-charge when party workers and leaders tried to obstruct them. The medical staff tried to administer primary medical care to Jagan in the ambulance but he objected to it. Jagan was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital where he eventually submitted to pressure and was forcefully administered fluids.
