Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung has written a letter to the Delhi assembly on Friday that the Jan Lokpal bill may not be considered for discussion as it was not approved by him.
“Since the bill is not approved by me, it may not be considered for discussion,” reads the letter, sources told IANS.
The letter has been addressed to the Delhi assembly and is with Speaker M.S. Dhir.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is desperate to pass the bill, which aims to check corruption in high places, during the four-day session, which started onThursday.
The government planned to table the bill on Thursday but deferred it for a day as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he wanted legislators to go through the draft legislation first.
Kejriwal has threatened to resign if the bill is not passed.
