Preparation and shopping for Eid Al Fitr has entered its final stages across the country with women, girls and children visiting markets to give last minute touch to their preparations.
The shopping spree peaked during the last weekend of the holy moth of Ramadan as children and women remained busy in buying accessories matching with their Eid dresses including shoes, jewellery and other stuff.
Markets seemed crowded from evening till Suhoor as majority of the people go for shopping after Iftar.
Women are busy in buying the food items like vermicelli, meat and other eatables to cook delicious dishes on Eid.
"The shopping frenzy reaches its peak during the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan but still buyers are showing interest in shopping and we are making good business this year," Zameer Khan, a shopkeeper at Karachi Company in Islamabad said. He said that he witnessed more rush of the people during these days as compared to the last Eid which enabled him earn good profit.
Irum, a young girl in Lahore said: "I bought my Eid dress and shoes and will go for rest of the things like bangles, jewellery, henna on the 'Chaand Raat' with my friends."
She said that most of the shops have displayed specila collections of dresses, shoes, hand bags and other stuff but all such items have been sold now.
The vendors have set up various stalls displaying bangles, jewellery, henna and other stuff in the main markets in all major cities across the country to attract the customers.
The shopping activities were seen at its peak also in Peshawar as people flocked to markets and boutiques to select best gifts for near and dear ones.
Mah Noor, 14, who came along with his father for shopping told that buying bangles and henna always doubles her joy on Eid. "I have bought bangles and cloths and will come on Chand Raat again to decorate my hands with henna." Like other part of the country, women and young girls are crowding markets till late night. Girls with parents especially came out in large number for shopping and main focus of their activities remained around buying artificial jewellery, dresses and matching shoes.
The young girls admired henna tattoos associated with celebrations of Eid specifically.
