Film, music fraternity pay tribute to Aadesh Shrivastava

Mumbai - The singer-composer, who was battling a relapsed cancer, passed away in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai in the wee hours today. He was 51. Aadesh had been undergoing cancer treatment at a hospital for over 40 days.

Celebrities including megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal mourned the demise of Aadesh Shrivastava, calling his death a great loss to music lovers.
The singer-composer, who was battling a relapsed cancer, passed away in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai in the wee hours today. He was 51. Aadesh had been undergoing cancer treatment at a hospital for over 40 days.
Leading the Bollywood tributes was Bachchan, who collaborated with Aadesh in films like "Baghban" and "Baabul", besides a Hanuman Chalisa album.
"Aadesh Shrivastava passed away.. I lived my music with him.. I live without him now.. and perhaps my music too," Bachchan posted on his blog.

Mangeshkar wrote, "I am deeply saddened to hear about the demise of composer Aadesh Shrivastava. May his soul rest in peace."
 
In a series of twitter posts, Nigam remembered his closest friend and frequent collaborator, as someone who was always full of life.
"He was one of my closest friends and we have done some remarkable work together. Beyond all that, we would hit it like a house on fire.
"He was so full of life, I have yet to see another man who has his traits. My heart wrenches in grief for having lost a friend, a brother," the singer tweeted.
Kher and Ghoshal took to twitter to express their condolences.
"RIP Aadesh Ji. Heartbreaking news. You went away too soon," Ghosal posted, while Kher said, "How helpless we all are in Supreme's world, prayers RIP #aadeshshrivastava and family to bear this irreparable loss."
 
Veteran actor Anupam Kher called Aadesh a wonderful person, writing, "I am so saddened to know about the demise of Music Director Aadesh Shrivastav. He was a wonderful person. Always smiling and always helpful. RIP."
Actress Sushmita Sen thanked the late composer for his amazing music.
"A warrior who always hit the right note!! Thank you for gracing our lives and filling it with warmth and amazing music!! God speed #AadeshShrivastava," she posted.
"This Janmastami Is not Happy for Bollywood, because R.I.P. #AadeshShrivastav," singer Arijit Singh tweeted.
"Ambarsariya" hitmaker Sona Mohapatra added, "Musician, composer Aadesh Shrivastava lost his battle with cancer some hours ago. Sad, depressing news. Strength to his friends and family."
Music composer-singer Vishal Dadlani said, "Saddened to hear of the untimely demise of Aadesh Shrivastava. Condolences to his family, and may they find the strength to bear this loss."

Last rites of Aadesh Shrivastava today at Oshiwara crematorium
The last rites of Bollywood singer-composer Aadesh Shrivastava, who passed away battling cancer, will be held this afternoon at the Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai.
51-year-old Shrivastava, who was fighting a relapsed cancer, passed away post-midnight at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai.
The funeral will be there at 12:30 pm at Oshiwara crematorium, sources said.
Shrivastava had been undergoing cancer treatment at the hospital in Andheri for over 40 days.
He is survived by wife Vijeta Pandit, former Bollywood actress and sister of music-composer duo Jatin- Lalit, and their two sons - Anivesh and Avitesh.
Over the course of his career, Shrivastava had composed music for over 100 Hindi films including hits like "Chalte Chalte", "Baabul", "Baghban", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham" and "Rajneeti".
Shrivastava delivered chart busters like "Kya Ada Kya Jalwe Tere Paro", "Haathon Mein Aa Gaya Jo Kal", "Sona Sona", "Shava Shava", "Gustakhiyaan", "Gur Nalon Ishq Mitha", "Mora Piya" among others.

Bollywood music composer Aadesh Shrivastava dies of cancer
Bollywood music composer and singer Aadesh Shrivastava, who was battling with cancer, passed away in Mumbai on Saturday.
His cancer relapsed for the third time and he was in critical condition for over 40 days. Shrivastava breathed his last a day after he turned 49.
His brother-in-law and music composer Lalit Pandit, from the Jatin-Lalit duo, confirmed the news to IANS over a text message.
"Aadesh passed away at 12:30 am," the message read.
The singer, who earlier battled with cancer in 2010, was undergoing treatment in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here.
Shrivastava composed music for films like "Chalte Chalte", "Baabul", "Baghban", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "Raajneeti".
He was married to actress and playback singer Vijayata Pandit. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Lalit had earlier told IANS that despite doctors trying their best to help Shrivastava overcome his illness, the treatment remained ineffective on him. Lalit had also noted that they need everyone's prayers.
As the news of his illness surfaced in the media, members of film fraternity like Lata Mangeshkar and A. R. Rahman expressed shock and hope for healthy recovery while others like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan met him at the hospital.
