A 32-year-old man was on Tuesday saved by his friends and the police after he posted pictures of a suicide bid on social networking site, police said.
Varun Malik, who works in a multinational company in Udyog Vihar area in Gurgaon, tried to commit suicide by cutting his wrist and uploaded the pictures of a bleeding hand on the social networking site Facebook.
Malik, a resident of Navyug apartments under sector 10 police station, also posted a suicide note.
Siddharth Uppal and Divya Sharma, Malik's Facebook friends came to his rescue and informed the police immediately.
"Malik's mother died after donating her kidney to him a few months ago. The victim was under depression after his mother's death," police officer Naresh Kumar told IANS.
"I Varun Malik in all my senses want to declare that I am ending my life because of my internal struggle. I hold no one responsible for it. I have borne the burden for long. I don't have anyone. I am all alone. Ending my life is the only option left with me," Malik wrote on Facebook.
Siddarth Uppal posted, "People staying in Gurgaon and know where Varun lives please please rush to help him and inform the police."
Divya Sharma replied, "If any of Varun's colleagues is seeing this then please send me his home address or office address. Police wants to help but every minute counts. Please."
Police officer Kumar said, "We were informed by police control room. Police team immediately reached to Malik's house after receiving the message. Victim's retired father was in the house but was unaware of his son's suicide bid and his brother and sister-in-law were out for jobs."
Malik was rushed to a private hospital where doctors said his condition was stable.
