Jordanians from throughout the kingdom gathered in the Jordan Valley area since early Friday to take part in the peaceful demonstration.

“We sacrifice our souls and blood for Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem,” they chanted after midday prayers.

Waiving national flags and carrying pictures of the mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, the demonstrators carried banners that read: “Jerusalem is in our hearts. We are coming to you.”

The protesters, including Islamists and trade unionists, set an Israeli flag ablaze.

The 1947 United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine was created to replace the British Mandate with “independent” Arab and Jewish states and a “special international regime” for Jerusalem administered by the United Nations.
