Jordanians from throughout the kingdom gathered in the Jordan Valley area since early Friday to take part in the peaceful demonstration.
“We sacrifice our souls and blood for Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem,” they chanted after midday prayers.
Waiving national flags and carrying pictures of the mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, the demonstrators carried banners that read: “Jerusalem is in our hearts. We are coming to you.”
The protesters, including Islamists and trade unionists, set an Israeli flag ablaze.
