The Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, has been admitted to the hospital for a medical checkup, and the country's crown prince will temporarily carry out some of his duties, the state news agency KUNA reported.
A royal order said Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah will "take over some constitutional jurisdictions of His Highness the Emir temporarily."
Sheikh Sabah was in "good health", the Kuna news agency said, citing a statement from the country's diwan minister.
In August 2019, Kuwait acknowledged the Amir suffered an unspecified medical "setback" that required him to be hospitalised.
In power since 2006, Sheikh Sabah has pushed for diplomacy to solve regional issues and hosted major donor conferences for war-torn nations like Iraq and Syria
