It was a sheer stroke of luck for a Sydney woman who went on to win a $50 million Oz Lotto prize on her first-ever lottery ticket. The winner, from North Sydney, said she had purchased the lucky ticket while holidaying over the weekend and found out that she had hit the jackpot two days after the draw on July 7.
The woman was holidaying in the Sussex Inlet, in the City of Shoalhaven, when she bought her first lottery ticket ever because it 'was a bit of fun'. "I can't believe it. I'm shaking. Jesus Christ. This is incredible,"
Daily Mail quoted her as saying.
While the winnings have made the woman a multi-millionaire, she said she will still continue to work. "Oh my god. I'm shocked, so shocked. My heart is beating so hard, I'm pacing around. I feel like I could have a heart attack, she added.
Speaking about how she intends to spend her prize money, the woman said, "I have no idea right now. Honestly, I cannot think straight. I'm still just so shocked. I think I will be so shocked for a long time. I'll definitely keep working, but oh my goodness, I just don't know!'
The woman is the tenth person to claim a division one prize in 2020. The draw created a total of 925,102 prizes besides the top spot throughout the divisions, creating a prize pool of $18.6million.
