The holy month of Ramadan will begin on Tuesday, May 7, in Oman, it has been announced.

"Monday, May 6, 2019 will correspond with the 30th of Shaban 1440 H. Therefore, Tuesday, May 7, 2019 will be the first of the Holy Month of Ramadan for the year 1440 H," the Times of Oman said in a report, quoting the moon-sighting committee in Oman.

The committee did not receive any reports of moon sighting on Sunday evening, the report added.

The crescent moon was sighted on Sunday evening in Saudi Arabia and UAE, and these countries will observe Ramadan from May 6 onwards.
