Addressing a banquet on Friday, deputy convener of Rabita Committee Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui demanded that the government should take strict action against those who disrupt peace, instead of wasting time on negotiations.
Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui appealed to the people to participate in the ‘Solidarity Rally’ at Shahra-e-Qauideen in large numbers.
The rally, to be held at 3pm, is in honour of those killed in acts of terrorism, Siddiqui said. The rally will also pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the law enforcement agencies, he added.
Siddiqui stated that the rally will serve as a reminder that the people of Karachi are against terrorism.
The MQM leader said it was not the time to sit in homes but to come out against terrorism.
Senator Babar Ghauri said negotiations with the Taleban was a sheer wastage of time.
Meanwhile, addressing MQM workers and leaders in Karachi over telephone on Saturday, MQM chief Altaf Hussain said Taleban and Pakistan could not co-exist, saying Taleban’s dominance and occupation will jeopardise country’s security and existence.
He said MQM’s leaders and offices have been targeted by Taleban militants for last many years only because of the fact that the MQM struggled for the rights of masses.
He said either enlightened moderate people would live in Pakistan, or the Taleban, as both could not coexist.— Online
