The Philippine Embassy in Oman warned Filipinos living and working in the country regarding the renewal of their passports.
According to a report by the Times of Oman, passports that have received a handwritten or manual extension will no longer be honoured by the embassy.
"The Philippine Embassy in Muscat was informed by the Sultanate of Oman that Omani authorities will no longer honour Philippine passports with validities that have been extended manually," a statement by the embassy said.
Instead of a manual extension, Filipinos in Oman will be required to apply for an automated extension before their passports expire. The embassy also stressed the need to renew passports before they expire. "Filipino nationals in Oman are advised to apply for a renewal of their passports before it expires so as to not be unduly inconvenienced when travelling or when renewing Oman residency/labour cards," the statement added.
