Two bomb blasts in the Saar area of Manama on Sunday gutted a police jeep but did not cause any injuries, Bahrain authorities said.
According to a spokesperson of the Northern Police District, the blasts were caused by homemade bombs as police were dispersing rioters and thugs who had been blocking roads and hurling Molotov cocktails at them in Saar.
The spokesperson did not disclose the exact location of the blasts or whether they were close or far from each other.
He said that an investigation to identify and arrest the suspects and refer them to the public prosecutor was under way.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry announced about a person who was brought to a hospital with face injuries by his family members. The ministry launched investigations to see if the injuries and blasts were linked as the person lives in Saar.
Bahrain has been witnessing violence in some areas since 2011 with several blasts that caused deaths and injuries of policemen and civilians in the past three years.
