Unitechnik FZE, with its registered offices in Dubai Airport Free Zone, is a subsidiary of the internationally operating Unitechnik Systems GmbH of Wiehl, Germany, which has about 350 employees around the world.
With 20 out of 350 offices in Dubai, Unitechnik FZE, which specialises in automated logistics systems, considers itself a local partner for customers in the Middle East and delivers logistics centres (also frozen), air cargo centres and solutions for production logistics.
"Our highly specialised team advises customers for intra-logistics and accompanies projects in areas throughout entire operational life - from selling via realisation up to the schooling, maintenance and after-sales service. We can also execute material handling systems for big infrastructure projects, such as airports. As this is where such projects are happening, we have been successfully operating here since 2003," informs Hans Christian Ettengruber, Managing Director of Unitechnik FZE in Dubai.
The first project of Unitechnik FZE was the Dubai Flower Centre, which is now the Dubai Cargo and Logistics Centre. From its strategically located office near the airport, Unitechnik has been able to attract many prestigious projects for eminent customers, including Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) and Integrated National Logistics (INL).
For EKFC, Unitechnik has provided a monorail system for the movement of all trolleys and their contents. Cutlery and crockery are transported with the bin transport system. In the newly provided extension, there is also an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) that moves without a driver and transports units between different stations. For INL, Unitechnik has provided a high bay system that can store food at temperatures as low as minus 28 degree Celsius. It has 43,000 pallet positions and a very good utilisation rate above 90 per cent.
"It doesn't matter what kind of mechanical material handling system needs automation, as we have the knowledge and the competence for it. Since we also provide the highly useful IT tool for our customers to use in sync with it, the whole system is accurate, speedy, and above all, cost-effective. The famed German high quality of Unitechnik products and services has helped us forge long-term relationships with customers and we intend to continue to follow that policy," says Ettengruber.
